Data assimilation methods are used to com-bine the results of a large scale numerical model with the measurement information available in order to obtain an optimal reconstruc-tion of the dynamic behavior of the model state. It needs less measurement data (information data) and gives accurate estimation.
Data assimilation has been applied in a lot of fields such as tidal forecasting, estimation on water level of river, groundwater pollution concentration estimation, air pollution estimation, estimation and de-sign control of mobile robot position and etc. Many data assimilation scheme are based on the well-known Kalman filtering such as Extended Kalman Filter, Reduced Rank Square Root Filter, Ensemble Kalman Filter, Unscented Kalman Filter, etc.
In this workshop will be presented some schemes of data assimilation and its application in some fields. Some topics of research will be proposed in this workshop.
Workshop on Applied Mathematics "Data Assimilation and its Applications" will be held on 11-13 November 2013 at ITS, Surabaya.
